Need help with exhaust
« on: March 11, 2010, 10:21:56 PM »
OK! I want to get a greddy ti-c exhaust and i want my car pretty loud and also want some good HP gains. I plan on getting headers too but I'm not sure how to go about getting custom piping done since the greddy exhaust is only axel back correct? What should i do??

Well the GReddy Ti-C is only gonna give you about a 4-5whp gain which really isnt much. I have one myself and like it, but plan on switching to a catback. But if you want it, do it. For the custom piping just go to a performance shop. They can fabricate one for you.

yes the greddy is only an axelback (both) and the hp gain will be like, 1hp, or nothing, lol. I say go with a catback, maybe the injen headerback, or magnaflow catback, or take it to a muffler shop and have a custom one.

there is always the tsudo headerback for FED (still not out yet, in development) unless you have the PZEV, they got one for sale for 300.

Ok well I was thinking about doing magnaflow as my second choice. Do you know a good site to get the magnaflow from? Also does anyone know if the HKS Hi-Flow Cat back is good?

Any good custom exhaust shops in your area?  I can honestly say any cat-back you buy ready-to-go will be absurdly overpriced.  Buy a resonator and a nice quality muffler and take it to a shop to do the rest.  When I get a few bucks together, I'm going to buy the two pieces and take them to a shop up the road that does custom mandrel-bent stainless steel exhaust for $200 and have a nice stainless steel full cat-back for around $400.  A lot cheaper than the $700 ones you see online...

NO, Greddy doesn't make a cat back for our car. Only axel back. It sucks.

yea i tried to get them a create a full cat back, but they said that because our car has a secondary cat welded on to a resonator, modifying that would be tampering with emissions, resulting in a system that isnt street legal....sad i know. Greddy should call Injen and get some help

Only the non fed car has 2 cats. Maybe you should contact greddy and tell them to reconsider.

Here in Texas you can almost pass emissions with a headerback and no cat.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but your honestly wasting your money. If its performance you want then your actually taking a step backwards. na cars need that back pressure in order to survive. Stick with you axle back and get a tuner for that kind of cash. Buck for buck its a better investment and you will see a much larger gain. Not to mention you wont lose torque with a tuner, but i would be willing to bet you will with a 2 1/2 inch exhaust. Trust me stick with a proven method tuning is the way to go. Hell even a header would be better then a full header back or even worse cat back. your piping diameter is not what is killing you. Its that pesky restricted cat and that puny log manifold you have.

well good luck thats my .02 cents

What is a tuner? Do you mean like RRM piggy back or timing controller??

Also after what you said I think maybe I'll get the RRm headers and maybe a high flow cat?? It shouldn't decrease back pressure so much that ill lose power right?
