You know a hybrid car can still perform pretty well. Electric engines have 100% torque from the start while a gas engine needs to spin up to the correct RPM before getting the best torque. So if they design it correctly you can use the electric motors to launch and then switch to the gas engine to keep going. The only down side is the added weight . . .But I do agree that using a hybrid to go "green" is worthless! The batteries will cause more pollution in the long run. A plug in hybrid is also stupid because where does the electricity come from to charge the car up? There are still plenty of power plants that use coal/oil to generate the power people need.
I can't see this being a big seller in the tuner world. Sure its making big numbers but people will always want more power and how do you get that out of a highbrid? Also if you push it hard and it breaks down what do you do? Parts are going to be insanely expensive to replace and it's not like you can fix it in your own garage. Sure theres no doubt about it you can get a lot of power out of an electric motor but will it catch on enough to sell thousands of cars and chances are at an insanely high price? Time will tell, but I know I would not even think to buy one even if it is putting out huge numbers.
*hybrid....lol
