Excellent article! But, if I have a complete HID's set, won't it contain this equipment? And even if it does't, won't a car's electrician know what to do, so the HID's work properly? And somethind else.. Why do I need a DRL bypass and a relay harness?

Our 08/09 Lancers have Daytime Running Lights. "The DRL signal is NOT a constant DC (6V, 9V, etc.) but rather a square waveform peaking at 14VDC and a frequency of about 60Hz (this is better for the bulb longevity than running them at 6V)"

If you run a set of HID's in the Lancers, the DRL's will cause your HID lights to flicker. Now to avoid the flicker, you can have your lights ON all the time. OR, you can simply BYPASS the DRL's. There are several ways to "BYPASS" the DRL's--which may include splicing the wiring harness. Some people would rather not splice or interfere with the OEM wiring, so THIS DRL Bypass w/ Relay Harness acts as another option. It is completely plug & play; NO splicing.

This DRL Bypass w/ Relay Harness serves as two things: 1) DRL bypass (eliminate)  ..  2) Standard Relay Harness for HID's

+1 for the great information. By the way, the position indicators and auto low beam work as usual, don't they?

Installing this DRL Bypass w/ Relay Harness simply eliminates the DRL's. This does not alter any other functions. By position indicators, do you mean turn signals? If so, then yes, they work as usual as they should since no other functions are changed. I'm not so sure what you mean about auto low beam.

Do you have the HID projector or non-HID headlights?

I have the simple halogen lamb headlights with deflectors, not projectors, and I am considering of replace them with projectors and HID's. When I am saying position indicators, I mean the small lambs at the edge of the headlights. And the auto low beam is the position for turning the low beam or DRL on/off automatically, when you drive from lightful to dark places of the opposite..

Does your car have an auto on/off headlights? Over here in the US we didn't get that feature until recently on the new Touring Package for the 2009+ GTS which already comes with HIDs.

^Ahh I see. Thanks for clearing that up.

We don't have the feature, so I wouldn't be able to tell you if the auto low beam will work. However, I do know that the signal indicators (small lamps at the edge of the headlights aka parking lights) will work. You can see them working as they should in my clip.

Are you serius?  |shocked| No auto on/off headlights until now? Very useful feature and we have it standard here in Greece since the 2008 9th Lancers.. Of course, we don't have other features like sunroof (can you think about it? no sunroof in sunny Greece..  |death|), projector headlights except Evolution.. Unexceptable! And we still wait for Ralliart..  |crap|

Reading two days now about DRL bypass, I figured this out. We don't need DRL bypass here in Greece, since our Lancers are not equipped with DRL's. We have the auto on/off feature instead of DRL's.  |thumbsup|

I see you everywhere, I swear. You on ISS aren't you? The day I bought my Lancer, I went on this Mitsu forum, forgot what and you were selling your CF hood cause your parents wouldn't let you keep it right? It looked tough though.
