Our 08/09 Lancers have Daytime Running Lights. "The DRL signal is NOT a constant DC (6V, 9V, etc.) but rather a square waveform peaking at 14VDC and a frequency of about 60Hz (this is better for the bulb longevity than running them at 6V)" If you run a set of HID's in the Lancers, the DRL's will cause your HID lights to flicker. Now to avoid the flicker, you can have your lights ON all the time. OR, you can simply BYPASS the DRL's. There are several ways to "BYPASS" the DRL's--which may include splicing the wiring harness. Some people would rather not splice or interfere with the OEM wiring, so THIS DRL Bypass w/ Relay Harness acts as another option. It is completely plug & play; NO splicing. This DRL Bypass w/ Relay Harness serves as two things: 1) DRL bypass (eliminate) .. 2) Standard Relay Harness for HID's
Installing this DRL Bypass w/ Relay Harness simply eliminates the DRL's. This does not alter any other functions. By position indicators, do you mean turn signals? If so, then yes, they work as usual as they should since no other functions are changed. I'm not so sure what you mean about auto low beam.Do you have the HID projector or non-HID headlights?
I have the simple halogen lamb headlights with deflectors, not projectors, and I am considering of replace them with projectors and HID's. When I am saying position indicators, I mean the small lambs at the edge of the headlights. And the auto low beam is the position for turning the low beam or DRL on/off automatically, when you drive from lightful to dark places of the opposite..
Does your car have an auto on/off headlights? Over here in the US we didn't get that feature until recently on the new Touring Package for the 2009+ GTS which already comes with HIDs.
^Thanks for the info. I guess I have to get to 50 posts before I can even see/use the marketplace, lol.All PM's replied.
I see you everywhere, I swear. You on ISS aren't you? The day I bought my Lancer, I went on this Mitsu forum, forgot what and you were selling your CF hood cause your parents wouldn't let you keep it right? It looked tough though.
Can you guys tell me if this comes with the relay harness or not?
Question, if I were to order an HID kit, it comes with a Relay Harness, wouldn't that be the same as the harness you have here?I was looking at it, and they are almost identical. For example, K Nguyen's kit above has a relay harness, wouldn't that allow him to bypass his DRL's already?
the relay harness just lets ur lights stay on 24/7 without flickers.. the relay harness / drl bypass .. bypasses the DRL.. lol
(23:51:52) hmoobher: I think thul is jealous because he's not as dope as bench
just got it today. install was pretty easy except i dont know who put my car together but all the bolts and nuts are extremely tight and i couldnt get enough leverage to unscrew the ground screws where you showed them so i used other ones. other than that works great and thanks for the product. oh just one question though when my car is not started but it is in on position i hear a sound coming from somewhere near the battery, sort of like humming is that normal?
can we do a payment plan? =D
No sorry. I can only take the payment in full.
how aboutttti pay you 3/4sthen when i get the product ill pay the rest?
I agree, works perfect, just wish the wire was longer
I did, obviously
wish the wire was longer
i have this. had no problems what so ever...i just think using only one ballast is very safe? and would shorten the life of the ballast?
i spoke with him over a week and a half ago and said he was sold out and he was busy qwith finals and everything so idk i havent heard back from him since then either
just rub it in lol
Its been 2months and the DRL Bypass w/ Relay Harness is working great thanks jrox
where is jrox?i need a set, and i have sent him 2 PMs, but the fool has not replied back!!!
2 Posts back **Please Note: I will be going out of the country for vacation December 25 - January 13He just got home and settled in. Give him until like next week, plus he will need to make more.
thank you for the update. i know i'm being impatient, but i just bought a set of Philips HID, and i don't want to install them without this wiring harness.
Yea, no problem. I know the feeling! I have stuff sitting in a bin waiting for a warm day for me to install onto my car... It sucks looking at this nice stuff and realising it's about 30 or lower outside and too cold to work
Thanks jRox Keep up the good work!
Hey ahh... I have the auto lights on my car, the ones that come on when it gets dark... Just wondering, does this mean i do not have DRL's? Cos I have no idea lol... and I was going to get some HIDs but i want to confirm this first.
Reading two days now about DRL bypass, I figured this out. We don't need DRL bypass here in Greece, since our Lancers are not equipped with DRL's. We have the auto on/off feature instead of DRL's.
hey jrox whats so different about your relay harness and the one from ddm tuning? they do the ame thing correct?
Jrox ,, i want one just one problem , this damm snowstorm , will be in touch so we can meet by this weekend
thanks , we got about 12-18" here so far more coming.
I dont know if any one is having a problem but this happen to me like five times already. When i turn on my car and turn on my low beam my hids dont turn on. Dont get me wrong the bypass does its job. I have to switch it on and off a couple of times to turn but nothing. Then i just drive off with my highs and they come on. They also had turn on and off while i was driving @ night 3 times in a row. So not sure wuts the problem the hids are working fine and so is the bypass/relay harness. Think it could be the computer having a glitch.
Make sure all connections, including the 2 grounds on the bypass, are setup correctly. Also try connecting the HIDs directly to the cars OEM sources. Then turn the car on and see if the HIDs turn on with no problems. There is also a fuse in the Bypass but if it is working sometimes but not others it is not the fuse.
You are awesome! You always answer everyone's questions in my thread. Memphiles, it sounds like you may have an intermittent connection. First, check the fuse (located on the red power cable). Then, make sure all your plugs are correctly seated. After, check to see that both grounds are properly bolted. You can also follow bluegts09's advice to help isolate the problem.
i received my drl bypass. very fast shipping. i cant wait to install everything. thanks jrox
