Lancer Ralliart vs Wrx
« on: April 29, 2009, 05:05:30 PM »
How do ya'll think this match up would be?  both cars have comparable power plants and weight close to the same so i feel like it'd be a good race and obviously they're built to compete.

How do ya'll think this match up would be?  both cars have comparable power plants and weight close to the same so i feel like it'd be a good race and obviously they're built to compete.

I just bought a Ralliart after owning an 03 WRX. My change was for a few reasons... some relating to daily driving and some related to racing.

Commute wise its nicer to have the SST tranny. Not having to use the clutch and reach down to shift in stop and go is AWESOME. Hands down. At the same time, with the paddle shifters you do have the option to choose gears if youd like so you can always or never be in boost.

The bluetooth is always a good thing to have especially for me since I hate cellphone headsets. Now I can just BT my phone with the car and no more worries.

In terms of racing I switched due to the car having the SST tranny. I like the idea of being able to concentrate on my left foot braking more, and also not having to worry about heel toe and trying my best to get better at it. Its a total cop out on my part but then the technology is there so why not use it?

Obviously in terms of weight the car is lacking compared to my 03 but I think the car has a lot of potential once setup correctly.

If you are just buying a car for daily driving though, its just going to come down to personal preference. None of their stats are going to make a difference in your drive.

good video i thought so after driving both the wrx just feels alot better but the RA looks better so it all depends on what you want performance or looks with performance

Yeah if you listen to that video though, a large portion of the performance difference is because of tires which you can easily swap out if those tiny differences in numbers are such a HUGE issue with what to buy

Yeah, I think the WRX will win sadly, Cars and Drivers magazine tested the 09 WRX and it is actually faster than the STI. Its sad lol.

Check out the April/May issue of 0-60 Magazine and the June issue of DSport that comes with a DVD for some good WRX vs Ralliart features.  ;D

actually i think he was comparing the new tires with the older version of the wrx... not the ralliart.

WRX has more hp, RA has more torque.  Because of the manual transmission on the WRX it'll perform a little better in the right hands, but "overall" most people will get more performance our of the RA since they wont have the experience to shift the WRX perfectly for a 5.1s 0-60 and will more likely be around 6.0 seconds.  Where as the RA will ALWAYS do it's 5.4s 0-60 plus it'll do it while you're focusing on that 3rd corner of the track .... ;-)

DSport magazine last month came with a dvd and on the dvd it compaired the two cars.  If anyone would like a copy of the dvd pm me pay the shipping and I will be more than happy to make you a copy of the dvd.  It is pretty good.  its a little over an hour long.
