Topic: Favorite Lancer Mods!!

So guys, as a proud new member of 9g, I wanted to start by asking everyone their favorite modifications, and aftermarket upgrades for their lancers! I have a GTS 2.4 manual, and am wondering what mods and goodies to fill it with. Please include if you can the price of the part(s),  horsepower, and or torque you got from doing said upgrades. Also i wanted to know what's the most HP I can possibly get from my GTS??? I'ts been driving me nuts trying to guess it.

The popular one is probably the Grille and Bumper blackout (visual mod). Then most likely a adding CAI or SRI (performance mod).

The most you may be able to squeeze out without going turbo (which would negate your warranty and cost you $4000) is about 12-20 more HP if you are lucky.

Remember this car is based on rally racing performance, not drag racing performance, two different schools of driving.

nice, so the CAI is around 300$, and adds around 15 hp not bad deal at all! And iknow its rally based but, Whats the best 0-60 it can potentially get?

PS? whats better for performance the MAN, or CVT? ive read everywhere the man does the job better

ya the CAI will give you more horse powers but I think the SRI is a bit louder, depends on what you are looking for.
I have the SRI ive read it gives you around 6-7 HP
my best mod will be my CF hood, ive spent around 1000$ on it
you can always get rims as well

keep in mind dude, these guys have '08 lancers...they have a 2.0, we have 2.4. There are CAI's and SRI out for them, and we can put them on...but just remember they are not for the 2.4 and will not give us any hp...i've seen a few SRI's out for us, but i think cold air is better....cuz the SRI is near the engine which is hot air...so whats the point? CAI is away from the engine which is cold air! woot! lol

there's not alot of engine mods out for us. its to early...but there should be some soon! i'm ready....but go to roadracemotorsports.com they have alot of stuff....good people too. look what they got. if you have any questions just ask..i'm not an expert but i can give you my opinion.

I just have the front black out and angel eyes. Total cost to me for all of it like 70-75 bucks. I love them both and think its money very well spent!!!

The Injen CAI that is out right now is only designed for the 2.0L. I read that u actually only get like 2hp if u put it in the 2.4L. They are currently developing one that is tuned for the 2.4L and gives up to 15hp I believe.
Most bolt-ons for the lancer will give u about 5-10hp each for like $200-300 each. I've read that the most power u can get out of the GTS with a turbo is 220hp to the wheels.
My fave mods on my GTS right now are the GReddy Spectrum Elite axle-back($360+). Looks sick and sounds great. My fav exterior mod is the black Ralliart tail lights($327), they are a subtle mod but make a huge diff I think. They look really hot on RG.

i like my wheels i painted them white. DIY makes you like them better haha

as for the SRI. whats the point if it sucks up warm air you ask? it's a SHORT ram intake. shorter piping means quicker throttle response. at least that's the theory. it's a small noticeable difference from stock on the 08 (i had it) and you can tell the power is in the higher range of RPM's when you switch to a CAI (I have that now). However, that might just be my mind playing tricks on me.... ya know.. kinda like a self fulfilling prophecy (in a sense).

Oh, I also got the works RSB. 20mm to 22mm... don't waste your money. it's hardly noticeable if at all.... i might have been tricking myself again. it's too late to tell now though. have had it on too long and dont wanna switch it off. haha

k, brad posted while i was typing.. so in reply to him as well now...

bolt ons are stated to add 5-10 HP each... SEPERATELY. When combined with other things.. these numbers might be more or less.. like. if you get an exhaust.. +10 HP (hypothetical). if you get headers +10 HP (again, hypothetical). but if you get both, maybe it's only +15 HP total since half of it is already pretty good.. OR maybe it adds +25 HP now because it's all better. who knows! only those who have both and dyno vs stock

The most IMPORTANT mod for a manual. SHORT SHIFTER!!!!! get it first. youll beat any stock lancer because of that. LOL. and when u tell them your stock, they wont beleive you won. as far as mods. 2.4 doesn't have much. so give it time. I was thinking the RRM Timing Control for 0-60 but i don't think it'll fit on the 2.4. and as they have said, its a rally car not a drag. i have the timings to prove it. I ran 16.3x's last night at the track. Lots of bogdown. but on the street she's faster. so its all a matter of taste. and if u want better performance. atleast get it tuned if you don't do anything else. all cars run lean from factory imo. so that'd be the best thing you could have done to get it running better.

screw drag. go for autocross... (drag is still fun though... even though it doesnt seem like it would be... when you actually go do it.. it's fkin fun... haha)
