Congrats! You better post some videos soon!

In time i'll post videos.  and thank you (no sarcasm) for not being a total d*-face and rude and demanding video's.    EvoM is filled with fuckfaces most of the time and I was a little hesitant to post pictures because someone always yells at the poster "show vidz now damnit!" or something like that.

When i get a chance (and a recorder lol) i'll take some vidz.   you have my word

They dyno'd the 09 they boosted.  I don't know if they've dyno'd a boosted 08.    I've dyno'd my car once in N/A form about 2 years ago with Subawho and Bras 33.   If i do dyno it'd be at the same place just to make sure im at least using the same dyno to gauge what kinda gains i've achieved

Mitsu lent Road Race 2 Lancers about a year+ ago.  One was 5 speed and the other was CVT.   They did Turbo the CVT with about 6psi of boost.   They even gave rides to some of us who attended a meet i hosted last year.   But then Mitsu wanted the car back, which meant the end of research/development/refinement for their CVT turbo kit.   As it stands now i do believe Rob wants a serious CVT guy to talk to him about getting the CVT worked on.   (08 and 09)   But as it stands Rob only has one Lancer in his flock....the boosted 09 5 speed.

So they DID make one.  But couldnt mass-produce because Road Race didnt have a chance to go balls-deep into the CVT like they'd hoped.

 |cool| I'm glad you didn't think I was being rude or demanding.  A lot of you SoCal guys have the advantage of being able to joke around on here and not take it personally because you know eachother and know when it's a joke or sarcasm, but I feel like I have to watch what I say, because no one really knows me personally and I don't like to offend people.

Anyway, back to your turbo... Have you fully tested it out yet?

you're a cool-cat Justin.   I didnt think for a minute you were being serious.

I have not had a chance to burn through each gear going uber-fast0rZ because Rob told me to take it very easy on the kit until i hit at least a couple hundred miles.

But i'd be lying if i said i didn't rip a gear or two....it's awesome.     Feels like a totally different car.    I grinned when i shifted gears and heard the "pssshhhh" sound.

Thanks Rick.

Road Race now sells that Mitsu OEM black out kit thing.    Roman suprised me by adding that shit to my car.   I was thinking of just leaving the front end alone but after seeing how it all turned out, im thinking i'll keep the car looking like this.

I'm seriously considering the possibility of moving back to SoCal so I can go to UTI in L.A.  I don't know if it will happen, but if it does  and RRM still needs an 08 CVT to work on, then I might just have to volunteer mine. Maybe... |grin|

just be realistic though.

some dudes call and think that they will get the kit for free.    Not happening.   The kit is alotta $$$

Sure you can look forward to a "great deal" but i see some dudes post and think that it's their right to have it for free.   Doesn't work like that.......

Come down to LA.   8)

I wouldn't expect anything for free. Maybe a damn good discount though!  I really want to make it out there this year at least to visit if nothing else.  My mom is arriving here tonight from Santa Barbara so I'll be discussing the possibility with her.

Did they tune it to run on 93 octane fuel or can you get away with 89?

I wouldn't expect anything for free. Maybe a damn good discount though!  I really want to make it out there this year at least to visit if nothing else.  My mom is arriving here tonight from Santa Barbara so I'll be discussing the possibility with her.
A visit would be sweet.  We'd have a meet in ur honorz  :-)

Tuned for 91 octane.

any idea of how much boost running? did you build up your internals before you had it done? just wondering because im a little fearful of just turbo'ing my engine without building up the internals. and i said if im going to go that route, id rather just find a rearended recked ra or evo, buy that, and take engine and everything out of that and put into my car. if and when i had the money of course. thanks ahead of time.

The kit is set to 7psi on stock internals.

I had skepticism just like you did, but im at Road Race almost every other weekend.    So i know first-hand how much Brian @ Road Race has beaten THE SHIT out of the 09.   You'd have to attend a meet at Road Race to know how much Brian puts that thing through hell.    Made me confident that my 08 would be ok seeing how he kicked the boosted 09 around like it was stolen.

Let me know if your MPG drops dramatically. Just curious cuz I would love to have turbo but I really save gas cuz thats the reason why I parted with my 2000 Explorer

For sure.    I actually have to fill up later on tonight.   I averaged about 400+ each tank.   But the same company that tuned Road Race's Piggyback for the N/A (Split Second Tuning) also tuned the Piggyback for the turbo kit.   I should see decent mileage (fingers crossed)

Man, first, nice rice, beautiful set up!

Second, let me know if you ever drive it out to Vegas! One, I wanna see it up close, and two, I wanna re-wrap your bumper (for free - material about $5 worth)!!!!

I love Vegas.  I try to go at least once a every couple years.  My friends go allllll the time.   So i just pick n choose which time i'd like to go.   8)  And thanks for the offer to re-wrap my bumper.   Good shit.

hey man congrats on finally getting it done.....it looks saaaweeet......and right now as it stands i am about half way there on the guap and then i will call and see about shipping my ride and leaving it there till its perfected...........im willing to be the guinea pig as soon as i can come up with the money...can you find out how much of a discount it would be, so i can know how much more i need to save? i assume labor would be free and would be paying price of parts with some money thrown in for dyno time

That kinda stuff is something i can't really ask.   Rob hears guys call all the time asking about having their car turbo'd, but most never come through or live too far.      My best advice would be to call him up when you feel serious/able enough to follow through with the project.   You can even say you're from 9glancers.com.   He knows about this place.  :D

Thankfully down the road i'll have time to weight all options including having Road Race put my shit back to stock.  Im hoping i'll have better options by then.  Im sure i will

and we can test out eachother's snail's when you get ur RA.   That should be fun.

true true i know....i will do that as soon as i can

yea don't rush.   once shit works itself out for you, who knows....maybe someone else would've done the dirty work for everyone's CVT.   We have alot of local dudes that hopefully one day will be ready to let Road Race R n' D their car.

my gf asked me how long until i get the money to turbo mine. told her let me get a 2nd full time job and give me about 6 months and i should have enough for turbo, pulley, exhaust, tune, and about 2 weeks to spend in CA, LOL. she said no cuz shed never see me then. i said dang it, and i had my dreams set on the turbo. but yeah, if i get the money. i think i will turbo now cuz of u Evolve. esp with the info that you said rrm beat the hell out of that lancer... and since your's is living proof also, and that by the time i get the cash, if your's isn't broke, then its safe.

Hey Graz bro on ur Turbo! You think RRM would put me on a payment plan if I brought in my CVT?  |wink|

Anything is possible.   They still need a loaner CVT.    And thanks for the congrats.  8)

my gf asked me how long until i get the money to turbo mine. told her let me get a 2nd full time job and give me about 6 months and i should have enough for turbo, pulley, exhaust, tune, and about 2 weeks to spend in CA, LOL. she said no cuz shed never see me then. i said dang it, and i had my dreams set on the turbo. but yeah, if i get the money. i think i will turbo now cuz of u Evolve. esp with the info that you said rrm beat the hell out of that lancer... and since your's is living proof also, and that by the time i get the cash, if your's isn't broke, then its safe.

lol funny story, my boi Bras 33 texts me to congratulate  me and i told him "im not accepting congrats until this turbo kit gets me home and i don't blow my engine up"   so far.....so good :D

OMG BRAH THAT IS SOOOOO MANY LAPDANCES BRAH! AND BEER CHUGS! |beer|

i know i know....luckily for me i don't care much for spending money on whore's who're pretending to like me

Took a couple more shots for the hell of it.  Finally had a chance to stomp on it a little this weekend.

Thoughts:
-The turbo gets spinning so quickly that most of the time i don't need to keep the car screamin' til 6k before i shift.   Most of the time while im in boost trying to....keep up to traffic, hit an on ramp, merge etc...I can just shift at around 4 or 5 and proceed to get more power from the next gear.

-The BOV is very very quiet at low rpm's and (to my enjoyment) does not make itself noticeable while shifting at low rpm's.   Since this is my first turbo car i was assuming the BOV would "psh!" wherever i went no matter when i shifted but nope, it only sounds like business when im spoolin the turbo.    |evil|

-So far so good on my first tank of gas.   About half way through my tank and im still hoping to get some good MPG out of it.  *fingers crossed*

-The clutch is feeling fine.   But im not too confident in my stock brakes anymore.   Not that they suck or anything...but now that i know im going faster then Mitsu intended i do plan on at least buying better brake pads, or at most, getting the Road Race slotted rotors with brake pads.

-There aren't toooooo many things more adrenaline-pumping or smile-inducing then hearing the BOV.  I've been waiting all my life for this, and it was well worth the wait.

I left my car @ Road Race saturday after everyone got their stuff Installed at the meet.   They got started  Monday, Tuesday it was in, Wednesday was spent tuning/datalogging my car then later that afternoon I picked it up.

if only i had a manual....
then my turbo would be a reality...
they keep speaking of making a turbo for the cvt... are they just pulling out legs?

The interest is (i'd say) more serious than ever now.   Since there are several RRM Turbo kit's out right now more people wanna know what's up with the CVT.   Road Race just needs one guy to step in and let Road Race fondle, caress, wine n dine, and date-rape their car so they can finally develope a CVT kit.   It's kinda hard to turbo anything if you don't have a car to turbo.

Road Race no longer has a CVT Lancer in their fleet, thus why they need someone to step up.    I personally know of more than a couple so cal dudes who are some-what legitimate in wanting a CVT kit, we'll see if anything developes from that.

There are (typically) 3 deal-killers for just about any guy that pm's or calls Rob to ask about the CVT Turbo Kit.

1.  They don't wanna be the 1st
2.  They thought they'd get the turbo for free.
3.  Not enough funds

once those 3 options are explained the call usually ends right there.  Can't say I blame anyone.    But as long as nobody steps up everyone will keep asking Road Race for it.   Glad i don't have that problem.   5 speed FTWin

I wanted to abuse these stockies until they are through.   Then get some High Performace Summer Tires.   Til then im just learning how to drive this thing with these shitty tires.  So far my car doesn't lose traction when im rolling hard in first.  But that's not the way i plan on driving this thing anyway.  Im using 2nd gear for my power.   havent had the need to pull hard in first yet.

i didnt really mean in first just like ur in second or third and decide to just floor it.. that one guy with it on EvoM said he can spin his tires through third gear.. idk why he tried that.. just wondering if ur tires spin in like a mad acceleration situation :)

The one thing stopping me from donating my cvt is the fact that I'm only like 1500 miles away lol. I would honestly pick up another job and start the turbo fund if I was anywhere near. Oh well...maybe someday

Doing some research on Turbo's in general I learned that a turbo (while not in boost) does an excellent job at atomizing the incoming air which translates to not having alot of unburned fuel in your system.  making it more effecient.

So because my drive to work is all freeway I can drive like Miss Daisy and still see the benefits of having a turbo.

Score one for Split Second Tuning!.....again.

Yup.   And I see all the damn grief he gets from the Road Race haters on EvoM.   F that shit.

Seeing his Intercooler is what made me want to paint mine black.  Intercooler is waay to hot looking.  that thing would get me into trouble.   staying stealth ftw

i was hoping you heard it.  glad you dig.

I love that camcorder.  Hopefully at least half the vidz we took are decent quality enough to post.   I tore a* through Angeles Crest.   My car performed like a charm.    No turbo issues, no over heating, the brakes still stood up strong.    My gas milage went WAAAAAAAAY south though, but that's ok.  I expected that.   Chasing my friends in their s2k and Celica was fun.

Yup, I saw a video of some technician actually explaining that. I think that is also why most luxury cars are turbo-ing their cars. It saves gas if you don't boost it every second.

Even though i kicked my car's a* this weekend i still hit 400 miles to the tank.    My last tank could've taken me to probably about 420+.    This tank (including the Canyon run) took me to about 400 even.

Im impressed

I got 400+ miles to my first tank.   I have to fill up today before i leave work.    I'm at about 390 and the tank just said empty.   meaning i have another couple gallons before i have nothing in the tank.   Im happy. Very happy.

Thats amazing!! I cant even get 300 mpg on my car lol!!

Rob told me what went into this project.  there's a reason other companies don't have a turbo kit out.  this car is a Pain In The a* to turbo/tune.

Good luck to you and your buddy.   I wish you all the best of luck.   Seriously.

the lancer isnt a b$tch to turbo...but it may be hard to tune....i dont know why Road Race couldnt figure out the CVT with the time Mitsu gave them with a free car....oh well. I have turbod many cars and tuning is the hardest...piecing together parts and building the system isnt too hard.

piecing together parts and building the system isnt too hard.

That's the exact thing ExtremeBoost is doing.  They are selling parts.    Basically a turbo and some pipes.   I wanna see which company is next in line to successfully TUNE their turbo application.

RRMs Lancer has been showing between 280 and 300 hp at the crank.

Subtract the national standard 20% drivetrain lose and you are looking at roughly 224 to the wheels.

Hi! congrats about having to turbo your car dude! Two thumbs up!

What bothers me is that, Why cant you dyno it and have a hard evidence of your gains?? with all due respect i am not demanding or anything at all, just really curious about it, Now you can tell me to buy my own turbo and dyno it your self which is understandble but, isnt it gonna benefit you more to know how much gains u achieved vs having it all stock and share it to us?? |cool|
now im thinking since theres a few of people have already installed turbo on their lancers and you will obviously notice that they dont have any dyno yet, im thinking.

1. Either RRM made them sign not to tell anybody about the gains achieved with their turbo because it just came out and would still need some more tweaking in the future so it wont ruin their production and cash flow (business wise)
2. Turbo'd lancer Owners just dont have time or money to do this (Why turbo it in the first place??)
3. Turbo'd Lancer owners dont wanna mess their engines yet because its still in the break in process? (or dont wanna mess their internals, clutch etc)

Any of those 3 are legit possibilities, but i dont know what you guys gonna say. but please dont flame me.
How can you face your problem if your problem is you face???

Would anyone else here buy something from someone if the owner of the product said "hey but don't like, test my product out or anything......you might break it"  would anyone here still BUY the said product?  lmao classic

One thing is, I dont judge people so they dont judge me, this is merely just an opinion and i respect what ever you wanna say, im not downgrading you or anything as i said on the post, Congrats! just really curious on how much gains it will give the N/A car Converted to N/A-T. that is all, again ill repeat this. this is just an opinion nothing else, also it will really benefit you knowing how much gains you have achieved here. again sir, im not demanding or anything,

Im pretty sure you will do this in the future no doubt about it, just wishing it could have been done earlier  |love|

Yeah on friday we will all meet and greet at the hooters and maybe chug 2 liters of beer  |cool|

Never assumed you were mad or anything, We all family here, and getting pissed to a forum member is like getting mad to your brotha and sister which is in my opinion is messed up. I would love to help you fund those dyno's dude so we can pretty much have a solid information about that beast you got there, reason i asked about the Dyno's is because im planning to trade this lancer of mine next year for a evo 9 or X and debating if i should get the Turbo for this or get those 9's or X and pay for another 5 years of pain? HAHAHA! |cool|

Well maybe in a year your thoughts and priorities could change, but i'd tell anyone who was in a position to get a X to get the X.  :D   Much much more of a stronger block (not to mention warranty protection).

I don't need alot of horsepower or AWD so this is why turbo'ing my lancer made sense to me.

So in a nutshell you'd have to ask yourself if you're MISSING something from this lancer or if you're just MISSING an oppurtunity to drive a bad-a* track-machine like a X.

I personally don't need a bad a* track car.... which is why I was eye-balling a Ralliart yesterday when I bought my scuff plates and wind deflectors are Glendale Mitsu.  The only one they had on the lot had all the options I wanted EXCEPT manual transmission...

If I could get one with manual I might consider a Ralliart more seriously...

Personally, I feel my '08 is "quick enough".  It's no race car, but it'll beat that SUV, minivan, and most hybrids down the on ramp, which is all I'm really asking of my car .... oh, and to be fun to drive when I wanna go up into the mountains :P

Evolve..

..I still hate you. :D

Stupid CVT

If I can get Rob to actually talk to me about the problems the CVT is having I'd be further along to deciding on what I'm going to do with the car. At this point I've decided to keep it and just dump money into it since it'll give me better gas mileage and cheaper insurance premiums than the X. That and I finally figured it's just not smart to buy a brand new or reasonably new used car right as I get out of the military and become unemployed. Even with a pretty check from the VA for the rest of my life.
If Rota wheels are so bad, and kill so many innocent babies, nuns and puppies I highly doubt they would be in business. You would never see the wheels on a car in the show and shine section, at a track, or on any persons car that had sense. They would make the evening news along with all my "evil black rifles" that spontaneously kill any living thing all by them selves. But that's not the case, people like them and use them.

Sup man.    My car sat in the driveway a whole week and still fired up without a problem when i was healthy enough to drive.    Didnt' realize how much i missed my car until i started driving it again.   The car is still running great.

The big test is yet to come.    SUMMER heat.    nO!11111!!!!!!!

i think you might just have to fabricate a cold air/ short ram type of intake for your turbo.
it gets waaaay too hot for that thing to run cool

in fact i've already decided that before i buy brake pads/rotors and also before a stage 3 clutch from ACT that a vented carbon hood is next up.   my clutch is still decent, and so are the brakes.

being in traffic in the summer heat will make me think non-stop about all the hotness underneath.  do....not....want

vented hood will push hot air out. but not suck in cold

in particular the Road Race one vents somewhat but will add the incoming cooler air towards the turbo.   unless another hood comes out that's vented (and looks good) i'll prolly use road-race's

i see what you're saying though, but no way in hell a lancer looks good with a ram-air or scoop.  fail

you could get the RRM carbon hood, it looks like it would suck in the cold air from the lil indentation in the middle

well the evo's will do the job too.  Its scoop directs air to the manifold and pushes it away, and the vents vent the air like usual.  I was meaning to ask you DC if you were thinking of getting an evo hood or something similar  |tongue|

lol well under the hood its under pressure so it would help releasing heat instead of building heat. heat rises so a vented hood will release the heat under the hood.

@ Ico:

if a silver evo guy was local and selling it, i'd be inclined to think about it.

the look hardly concerns me as i feel both the road race hood and evo X hood look sweet.

do they literally bolt up to eachother no problem?  i never found out.

yeah, look around in the forums, maybe socalevo.net or the other turbod car forums too
and the RRM hood looks sexy! the only thing i dnt like is that it doesnt have the holes for the winshield squirters! lol
and also, you might see better performance with the colder air coming through the indentation in the middle

whoa.  good point.  RRM"s doens't have a spot for the squirters.    that's pretty important to me.

Wonder if a local guy would rape me just because he has a X/RA hood.... I would hope it'd be cheaper to find an RA/X hood then going carbon and having to have it paint matched.

I think it's pretty damn hard to find an evo x hood. But you should definitly get one, it'd make your car look sweet, on top of that you got some go to back it up! Plus the  release of the hot air.

yeah +1

i think, if its all too expensive or more than what you think. try to get a body shop to just replicate it for ya!
you can alos get those ars inserts that they sell and have the body shop cut your hood open

Both of you have good points.   Hmmmmm stock X hood is seeming more and more like a better idea.  too bad im not going to MOD, i could just ask the 5 billion X/RA owners which one is gonna sell their hood first.   What sucks for me is i don't see why these guys would get rid of their hoods.   havent seen too many that look better than the stock design.

Good stuff manny. And you can do local pick up.  Just that you'll have to paint it since you want it color matched.  It shouldnt cost that much to paint though.

And those evo owners might ditch em just to go CF...

is that what i should be willing to pay NO MORE than?    thanks by the way.   Cuz i don't know where to start seeing as i don't see hoods for sale that often.  and plus i forgot off the top of my head how much a carbon hood will cost me anyways.

Dude your right! At mod you can probably find someone, almost for sure. Sucks your not going tho, I wanted to see/hear that baby growl. But you are right, patience is virtue.

usually nothing takes precedence over going to MOD but this year a good buddy of mine is marrying a girl i've known since my freshmen year in high school.  they both would not forgive me for not attending.  and im actually looking forward to watching these 2 tie the knot.   i just wish they weren't getting married on the day of MOD but oh well....

if you were at the dyno meet, you woulda seen.  We had socal3g, socal4g, and us there to see that my numbers are on par with a stock RA.    and im pushing half the boost.

people were like "dude phuck the RA".    Props left and right for a 75+hp kit.

the 2 turbos are not the same size so saying you have the same power with lower boost is somewhat deceiving. The RA requires high boost to produce those hp #s because the turbo is small.

Good job on your turbo though , those are still some impressive #'s but
to the ppl who said phuck the RA haha my RA has never been beaten by a boosted GTS
no offence you have a great car but my RA will smoke any GTS
its like me comparing the RA to the Evo
even though i can beat a stock Evo, a modded Evo will leave me in the dust

too busy to look it up myself (just tried) :p

how much smaller is the RA turbo?  I was just noting the difference in power from the level of boost it's pushing.  ur right though...i dont know how big/small these 2 turbo's are to eachother.  Still produced lulz at the meet.

no one makes forged rods or pistons for the car yet. which is why we can't turn up the boost on the cars.

from what i hear.
Evo X cams and rods and pistons fit in our block.
just needa get re sleved and such...

too busy to look it up myself (just tried) :p

how much smaller is the RA turbo?  I was just noting the difference in power from the level of boost it's pushing.  ur right though...i dont know how big/small these 2 turbo's are to eachother.  Still produced lulz at the meet.

Here is the only visual i could find
The left turbo is a Ralliart and the right one is a Evo x Turbo

lmao.  that's the first time i've seen the RA and EVO turbo's side by side.    i wish i could throw mine into the picture somewhere there, but oh well.

im on 9g from work, and work blocks pretty much everything cool on the internet.  including vids and photos.

I'm friends with my tech at my dealer and he drove my car a couple weeks ago during the Road Race Halloween Meet.   First words outta his mouth were "dayum!"    made me lol

Picked up some Motor Mounts about a week ago.   Wanted to drive it around a bit before making any kind of review.    @ Idle the car vibrates a little bit more then it used to.   It's not noticeable all the time, only sometimes.  The car isnt any louder or violent at high rpm's then it was when it was N/A.

In stock form the OEM motor mounts allow for a lot of movement.   Now that i've placed these new mounts in the shifting feels more direct as a result of keeping the engine more in-place then the OEM mounts.

I'll see if i can get a picture of the stock mounts.  I can't take pics of the new mounts because they are already on the car.

Just checking in to see how your car is running after having it turbo'd for over a year. And what psi you've been running at. And if you still have the stock internals.

Car is still running fine.  in fact got over 400 miles to the tank last tank.   7psi on stock internals.  No leaks, no overheating yet *knocks on wood*

Be careful with the 4b12 and boost. Its higher compression, and stroked, so more potential for catastrophe. New internals may be necessary.

Yeah I've been doing my research. I would definitely be getting low compression pistons with the addition of a turbo.

That's what I'm looking forward to  ;D  I just need to go about it as carefully as possible and not be all like " OMG I want turbo now!!" and then I have to ride a bike 14 miles to work.

I don't know whether to just save that fat cash and buy the kit or buy a piece at a time when I find deals.

At least with the kit, if I decide against it I can just use the cash for something else. Buying parts will probably save me money, but I'm stuck with just parts if I change my mind.

plus if you save up for the kit, and actually buy it, then change your mind, you can sell the kit at a 5-10% loss and recoup most of your money.

I've been trying to find RA/EVO parts but the only things I can find are the stock turbo's. Having trouble finding intercooler, piping, manifold, etc. I've found aftermarket parts for the EVO, but I don't know if they would work with the 4b12.

I'm kind of learning as I go. Fun  stuff :)

The exhaust manifold should fit no problem, the main difference is that the 4B12 exhaust ports have been ported by factory. Maybe you would have less exhaust velocity to spin turbo, not really sure.

If you look hard enough, you should be able to find a used RA or evo manifold. You can always build your own hard pipes kit and get aftermarket intercooler.

You should talk to Furyschild, he may be able to help find some parts.
