I've had zero problems, but I'll still go to the dealer and have him fix that. Any time I can get something replaced for free I do it.
Consequence: THIS MAY TEMPORARILY INCREASE THE STOPPING DISTANCE OF THE VEHICLE AND THEREFORE INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.Sounds kind of.......serious
It could be, but it also says: UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS (VERY SLOW VEHICLE MANEUVERS), THERE MAY BE INSUFFICIENT INITIAL BRAKING ASSIST. So more than likely it would only happen at low speed, and hopefully you could avoid a crash in such a situation.I'd still advise everyone to inquire with their dealership about it and get it fixed since it will be free.
checklist-oil change-check rpm-brakes?-recall referring to brakeshopefully they get changed
I talked to an engineer at MMNA about this and he said that if you feel you're affected by the problem and as a temporary workaround: When you turn the car on, hold the RPM between 1500-2000 for about a minute, which should force the check valve open (obviously, get it fixed as soon as you can). Most dealerships don't even know about this recall yet nor do they have the parts to fix it as of right now.Even though it only effects the car at low speeds and it doesn't sound super serious, remember that ABS only kicks in above 15 MPH. So you could be potentially put in a situation where your stopping distance is increased - so you step on the brake pedal harder than normal; which makes your wheels lock up...ooops, no ABS! - then...BAM! - you slide into the car in front of you.

most 08 lancer in my area is from japan...would i be affected or is it just the ones made in usa?
I don't have ABS . hate it... once the abs goes, brakes work a lot better anyway stopping power. and i know on my grand prix, if you slammed on the brake pedal, it disabled abs automatically. Honestly, i can't see brakes locking up at low speed, and making you skid. i just cant picture that. I mean if its wet out, but if its really dry?? i guess it is possible.
i dont think any of the lancers are made here in the USA. i believe they are all made in japan am i correct? someone wanna confirm?
to the best of my knowledge, all North American Lancers are assembled in Japan.
Mitsubishi is the only car company on the market that is still entirely made in Japan.
I was wondering if you guys contact the dealership or they contact you

Took my ride and recall letter to the Mitsu dealer this morning. They replaced the air supply check valve in about 30 mins.
I'm going to call their service hotline today, prior to heading over to talk to the a-holes at the stealership, to see if I can get them to possibly cover my bumper since I couldn't stop in time from 35f*knmph in 3 car lengths.
have you heard anything about the drift/pull to the left as far as recalls go?
Nice find, thanks. will get it looked at. at next oil change.
If you haven't received a letter from mitsubishi about this by now I wouldn't worry about it. I got my letter about four months ago and did my recall about a month after that. Not all lancers are subject to the recall.
Yup, but when in doubt, it doesn't hurt to call your dealership and check.
i call my dealer once or twice every couple of mins to have my vin searched for any recalls, just in case. u no new cars sometimes they have minor flaws.
I ask this, cause...here in Europe, we dont have the same recall...i think...cause - as i know - all our lancers are made in Japan! That it means if your lancers are assempled in North America...and not in Japan, something was gone wrong....there...Just i would know that...
U can find it if u see the serial number of your cars...If start with "JMB...." then is made in Japan 100%
As a result from this member of this "projectlancer.net" club http://forums.projectlancer.net/topic/7265942/1/#new which have "ralliart" model the US customers (probably and you.....? ) their models assembled in North America! His serial number start from "JA..." and not from "JMB..." as all Japan models!Take a look to yours...just for the history...
As the result of this...seems u have right...and the guy of "projectlancer.net" club has wrong...Ok, thanks a lot, cause i was really comfuse....about it! But i had still a question:Why dont have the same recall in Europe...as i know...? Same products, same plan...
hey i just bought my lancer last month you think this is something that i should check into?
