My X-Factor Folding Mirrors
« on: January 23, 2009, 08:56:58 PM »
The bad:
Took me two days to install. WHOLE days. 8am to 8pm. No breaks or lunches.  ;D

The good:
It will take you 1 day or less because I will answer all questions.  ;D

That was taken when I didn't have everything put back yet. My door panels and everything were still off. This was just to make sure everything was working.

I have these installed on mine as well.  You sure you didn't forget the soft plastic isolator??  Hope you put that in else the rain will see to your mirrors.

nah no troubles.....tats made it easier....i was a little worried about all the pictures but its pretty straight forward....the most time consuming parts were the running of the wires...the whole connecting of the wires on the mirrors to the harnesses and that was it....it was simple to do after we reread tats instructions that he emailed to me.....so where do you get tatsujo from peng????what does tatsujo mean?

You know.. good question! If it doesn't, I'm sure you can get a cheap alarm system and just use the power lock feature.

ok everyone i finally finished my installation and it was a bit of a PITA because our cars dont have the exact same wiring they have at singapore...so the wire that had to be spliced in order for the mirrors to actually fold took me 2 days to find it...the installation was a piece of cake, on the other hand finding that wire wasnt...so here i post this so that all of you who are planning on getting these, and I strongly suggest you do, wont have to go through all the s*** I went through...in the following picture you can see I outlined the brown with 2 silver dots, this is the wire you need to connect the brown wire from the X-Factor harness...id post a picture but I forgot to do so after making the connection...I will do so if anyone requests it...

hope this helps all of you who have already ordered these and started the install and encountered this temporary stop...

I feel as though that will be very helpful.

Ordered mine today.

Extra couple of weeks for Rotor Glow color but great to deal with so far.

There are not any instruction on the site yet. Are there any floating around?

The bad:
Took me two days to install. WHOLE days. 8am to 8pm. No breaks or lunches.  ;D

The good:
It will take you 1 day or less because I will answer all questions.  ;D

Do you think it could be done in a shorter amount of time? I'm thinking about taking it to a professional shop to install these. Any big details I need to know that you had trouble with?

yeah you need to take your time,
but once you do the wiring it all comes together nice.

if you get an auto electrician to do it just have the Instructions printed for them, ready to use.

Do you think it could be done in a shorter amount of time? I'm thinking about taking it to a professional shop to install these. Any big details I need to know that you had trouble with?
dude, i wouldnt go to a "professional" at all...the installation is fairly easy and just takes from 4 to 6 hours...the biggest issue for me was finding the wire that sends the signal to the mirrors to fold/unfold, and i posted a picture showing which wire it is, so that none of the left-hand-driven lancer users have to go through what i did having to email back and forth with Shadows so we could find the wire...all the other wires (7 if im not mistaken) are very simple to find...and another thing, take it to a shop and see how much they'r gonna charge you...i can guaranty you it will be more that $100...i mean, if $$ is not an issue for you by all means do it, but for some of us (i include myself) its not...like Ozie said, dont rush your self and be patient, you wont need much, its very easy to understand...i read the instructions the night before i installed them and the first 3 or 4 pages just say what you need to remove and how its done, thats a piece of cake, and then i used the instructions to do everything else...good luck whatever you decide to do

Thanks man that is good to know. I was pretty scared to try and attempt my installation.....but you know what.....I think that I am going to do it.
I already got my mirrors yesterday. I just need to check them out when I have time. I'll post pics when I can.

ok everyone i finally finished my installation and it was a bit of a PITA because our cars dont have the exact same wiring they have at singapore...so the wire that had to be spliced in order for the mirrors to actually fold took me 2 days to find it...the installation was a piece of cake, on the other hand finding that wire wasnt...so here i post this so that all of you who are planning on getting these, and I strongly suggest you do, wont have to go through all the s*** I went through...in the following picture you can see I outlined the brown with 2 silver dots, this is the wire you need to connect the brown wire from the X-Factor harness...id post a picture but I forgot to do so after making the connection...I will do so if anyone requests it...

hope this helps all of you who have already ordered these and started the install and encountered this temporary stop...

So basically, it is going to be brown to brown?

Ok, just installed my mirrors. Only having two problems that I know of. First, I can't lock my driver door while driving without the mirror folding. Did I mess up the wiring? Second, not sure if the heaters work on it yet. Turned on the defroster but the mirrors did not heat up. Wondering if anyone else is having problems?

When I tested the heater part of the mirrors, I hit the button & let it do it's thing for about 45 seconds & then I felt the back window 1st....check...... & then the mirrors & they did feel noticeably warm. Not hot....but def. enough to get rid of any ice.

Well the only thing that was different than the instructions was the part about the blue wire being brown on our cars. So I just hooked brown to brown, but all the other wires are the same.

My friend was the one that connected the stuff, but he put them in the way the directions read. The connection pieces did fall off so he had to sauder them back on. YOu have pics of the connection pieces on the U.S models? On how it is supposed to look.

Ok, now i'm getting worried. My mirror on my driver side doesn't close as quick as the passenger side. Starting to think we connected something wrong, haha. Does anyone have the U.S version of instructions?
