Bumper no longer flush?
« on: February 18, 2012, 06:01:12 PM »
I took my front bumper off today do to an intercooler swap, and when I put it back on and bolted everything back up, I noted the very far corners of the bumper that meet the fender aren't flush anymore, they stick out badly. That top bolt isn't overtightened, all of the clips are in place... I don't understand. It's the same way on both sides.

It wasn't like this before and it's actually depressing. Any ideas???

IIRC theres a square hole on the bumper that fits into the square plastic retainer thing that the screw goes into. maybe its not fitting snugly over the retainer

I've had this same issue with my eclipse bumper. I have metal bumper braces (i guess you call them that) the my bumper clips into. I played with those and changed their angle some to help get it back to how it was supposed to be.

Yep, I agree.  It must be in a bind somewhere and the square plastic retainer must not be lined up right before you insert the screw.  I'll admit, these bumpers are definitely finicky... a big pain to get back on exactly right with all the screws and snaps installed 100% correctly as stock!
