Need a favour from people with stock PROJECTOR HID headlights
« on: January 31, 2012, 07:35:22 AM »
Can any one that has stock PROJECTOR HID headlights with leveling feature (with rotary switch in the dashboard) help me out by taking several good pictures of the adjustment motor (possible multiple angles) that is mounted at the back of the headlight? Passenger headlight should be the better choice - if that helps.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the pictures.
Now looking at them makes me feel that I've asked for too much of a favor since the area I'm interested to see in detail is at the lower edge of the assembly. I've put a circle on one of your pictures to highlight the area of the headlight assembly I'm interested in.

I'm considering designing a leveling mechanism/means for the EE headlights that I will be purchasing. I like to do homework prior to making expensive decisions. :)

There is alot more to the leveling system then just that motor .
You would need to take apart a set of Oem Projectors to get all the parts needed.

Ingenuity is the key. I've done this before.  ;)
Also, I've seen reflector Lancers in Europe last year that had the OEM leveling system. The headlight assemblies were identical, other than the presence of the motors. I have an operational and not broken OEM passenger reflector light assembly that I've purchased off the wrecked car ($40) just for the purpose of building the leveling system. I might put together the DIY on this mod once it's done.

Let me know how you figure out the switch wiring , I bought the switch and as far as I can tell the wiring for it is in the main harness and it is very expensive and time consuming swap .

- I've also got the brand new switch a couple months ago (Taobao). Will let you know once I have the model headlight working in my basement.

- Very nice, fury.
I just quickly popped the hood of my car to look at the connectors at the headlights. It turns out that my car came pre-wired with the adjustment motor connectors (5 wires). Judging by the q-ty of 5, tells me that Mitsu uses 4 phase stepper motors with a common wire. More info to come...

I'm more interested if the wiring from engine compartment side of harness has the wire which leads to the switch inside the passenger compartment .

I'll check that on the weekend and will let you know.

Wasn't feeling well on the weekend to look through the wiring, but... Here is what could answer your question, fury. It looks to me that manual leveling function is completely undependent of ETACS ECU and if you do not have the stock wiring, still, you should be able to wire the leveling direct. Let me know how it goes.
