Help Me Decide!!!!
« on: November 01, 2011, 06:03:12 PM »
Should I do the famous Lancer Projectors with the LED Strip, and Dual Halo Rings for 600$+HID's

or

Regular HID's

Because Right Now I Cannot Stand The Factory Lights On Cars, They Don't Light Up Anything!!!

Personnaly don't like the LED strips or the backlighting. I do like the halos and projectors. Probably doesn't help much, but there ya go.

You should get the halo ring projectors. If you put HIDs in regular reflective housing for halogens it will cause scatter, potentially blinding oncoming traffic. Projectors look better, and they give you a clean cutoff.

You can get HIDs for much cheaper than $200. And I don't believe the projectors with HIDs would be as much as a $1000, but they are still quite an investment. It's really up to you though.

I've wanted those ever since I first saw them, do you know how the colored LED's are controlled (turned on/off)? Is it through a switch or what? Cause I'd like to get a switch to control them, like how the fog lights are turned on/off if at all possible.

Order the TaoBao projectors and HIDs.  And if you want, black them out and make them all fancy.

1. You're spending a little much on HIDs
2. Install everything yourself and save some money.
3. taobao and taobaofocus can get you some sweet projector headlights from china that fit perfectly.

I got my HIDs for less than $50... I put them on myself. If plug and play man. You're getting ripped. Also the relay harness is for those with Day Running Lights(DRL) which in our case, is the same as our regular headlights but its dimmer when they're not turned on. Now since its dimmer, when you have HIDs, the ballast doesn't get enough power, making them flicker/fail unless you turn your lights on EVERY time you get in the car. And believe me, that can get more expensive(Im on my third set of bulbs, finally decided to get one). Im pretty sure that 2011's don't have DRLs though. I could be wrong. Probably am.

If you mean DRL's as in like the lows are on at all times or some other light is (like the new line of toyotas and those super bright amber lights) then yes youre wrong my lights dont come on like that

The light knob twisted:

-Closest down/towards driver=no lights projected from headlights whatsoever
-First click=parking lights only
-2nd/Final click (unable to turn little piece towards speedometer any further)=parking lights and low beams on

AND

The second twist knob slightly closer to the wheel when twisted forward activates the fogs

So I think I'm good.

To be honest, I have no idea, I'm gonna order these soon, but I'm pretty sure you can wire it yourself to make a switch. It's not that hard.

I've talked to the guy from auto city who sells them

He told me that you can wire these how you want but the red/blue/yellow light behind the low beam halo ring he said isn't really bright and is virtually unnoticable when driving he said its like some kinda gas that makes the color and is mainly used for car shows just so it looks cool
