I learned to drive on an auto, then after that my parents got rid of it and then my only option was a manual transmission, so I learned. I think learning stick definitely gives you a better understanding -and particularly feel- for how the engine and wheels respond to the commands of the driver. I drove a manual GTS for 6 months, absolutely loved it, however I felt the need for speed and an evo was just too much $$$ :).

Still though, I freakin' love my TC-SST! Absolutely having a blast with it the different drive modes. I can see why people like standard so much though. Funny story, I put my RA in the garage until the dealership's service dept opened (only open mon-fri and I had a cel on) and was driving a manual Mazda6 in the meantime; today I get everything resolved in the RA and I'm constantly searching for that clutch with my left foot (and periodically double-stamping my break pedal by accident because of it!).

I prefer a manual but I was very impressed with the TC-SST. I was very skeptical on the idea at first because I have driven friends cars that were cvt and expected it to be similar to the lag. I know this car would definatly sell better if it was available in a manual because most people do not want to give it a chance because they think it is just an automatic. I am overall very happy with the TC-SST and how much control you have over the motor. My only complaint is hard shifting when it is fist started but it works perfectly fine after the car warms up a bit.

I will have to agree ..............I LOVE MANUAL, (the satisfaction you get from downshifting is an orgasm lol) but i was tired from shifting in traffic here in LA, after doing 10-12 hours of work just to be stuck in traffic was a pain in the arse, I too was skeptical on the TC-SST but the first time i took it for a test drive I was sold. Now I feel I have the best of 2 worlds, When I want that satisfaction of having control of my engine, ill switch, when I want to go home after a long day of work...auto it is, and I can still destroy a "TC" on Auto lol.  ;D

i think everyone is skeptical on the notion oh noooooo automatic... TC-SST is nothing like i've ever driven before being as all my previous cars have ALWAYS been 5 or 6 speed. (and would never even consider an auto tranny)
its really hard to explain how it feels. as many nissan GTR owners and X MR owners will describe the tranny as literally a "clutchless manual" almost as its reading ur mind when u would normally be shifting.

for all have u who are disgusted that the RA's only came in "automatic".. GO DRIVE ONE  ;)

Technically its not a clutchless , its clutch-pedalless, its does have clutches.

you wouldn't believe how far along cars have come.   If i gave you an 80's or early 90's car to drive, im sure you'd almost break it.

Nowadays...  smooth clutches, smooth engagements, light-feeling clutch pedal.   It's a breeze son.  Try it out if you can. Or date a chick with a stick car just long enough to drive it.  then you can dump her. :D
Not necessarily. Some modern cars are a b* to learn to drive as manuals. The first, and only, car that was a manual that I've driven was a 2007 Audi RS4. Impossible to learn on.
